The HPI Season 4 finale was full again for Morgan (Audrey Fleurot) and Karadek (Mehdi Nebibu). After having to give birth in an emergency, with the help of a wanted criminal, Red Tornado finds herself in the hospital with her entire family and colleagues.
But while everyone is convinced that Timothy is the baby’s father, Elliot, Morgan’s son, reveals that TG does not stand for “Timothy Guichard” but for “genetic test”. It is at this moment that we discover to our surprise that the father is actually Karadec. A twist that will surprise more than one person.
Why did you choose Karadets as your father?
At the start of Season 4 last May, Alyssa Chegaray-Brunot and Julien Anskater, HPI’s writing directors, told AlloCiné that they chose the father’s identity based on a character who could offer them more intrigue for Season 5.
At that time, no one but them knew that Karadec was lucky. In light of this revelation, we caught up with them once again to explain the origins of this prickly choice that should have been a fan favorite from the start.
“We have explored all possible options. And it’s true that seeing Morgan with a new child from a father other than Karadek didn’t end up rekindling their relationship. They found themselves almost at status quo“Alisa Chegarai-Bruno explained to us.
“She would have another child with a different father, but that didn’t change anything in their relationship. Whereas without co-parents being together, as well as mates and teammates, the game seemed a lot more fun..”
“For example, we will be able to examine the differences in education between Karadek and Morgan. We had a feeling that we would have some comedic sources that we hadn’t used yet among them.”
“It also allows us to see their relationship and what changes they make as parents. It’s no longer casual talk because there are responsibilities. It felt like we were starting Season 5 in a completely different way.“
Why are you playing with the audience’s nerves?
As always, the writers decided to play on the audience’s nerves until the last minute. A suspension that also has its significance in the construction of the relationship between Morgan and Karadek.
“We love the fact that Karadetz was there to give birth, even though it wasn’t really her child.Julien Anskater explained to us. “We thought it was an exciting scene because it showed that the two characters love each other, but there are obstacles in their relationship. We also tried to surprise the audience. We wanted to announce the father’s identity as late as possible because it is a matter of the season.”
This late revelation also allowed the writers to develop the relationship between our two protagonists. “The moment when Morgan puts Karadek’s feelings first by deciding to open the DNA test knowing that she might not like the results because she’s afraid that Karadek will attach her to a child that isn’t hers was important. This is yet another season where Morgan is reflecting on his karma. And there he does a truly altruistic act“- concluded the screenwriter.
