Actor is open to reprising the role if there is a ‘unique and exciting’ story
Andrew Garfieldknown for his role as Spider-Mansaid he is open to returning to the character. In a recent interview with Esquirethe actor said he is considering the possibility of reprising the hero, as long as the project has a good story and is innovative.
I would definitely 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it added something to the culture, if there was an amazing concept or something that hadn’t been done yet, something unique and weird and exciting that you could really delve into.
The actor played Spider-Man in the productions The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and THE Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), in addition to making a special appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home(2021), a film that brought together versions of the hero played by Garfield, Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland.
I love this character, and he brings joy. If part of what I do is bring joy, then I’m happy to give back that joy.
The actor also recalled the period in which he had to hide his participation in No Return Home. He said he had to lie about his presence in the film, and said he hid the secret even from his co-star, Emma Stone, who played Gwen Stacy.
It was like a huge game of Werewolf that I was playing with journalists and people trying to guess, and it was really fun.
There were times when I thought, ‘God, I hate lying.’ I don’t like lying and I’m not good at it, but I kept treating it as a game.
In addition to the possibility of returning to the role of Spider-Man, Garfield also has new projects on the horizon. The actor is preparing to star in the romantic comedy We Live In Timenext to Florence Pugh.
