So here comes Rugrats again! A phrase familiar to fans of the 1992-2007 French animated series. Because as of April 2023, there are already three feature films here, in addition to the reboot. Learning that a movie is planned shouldn’t surprise many people, especially at a time when nostalgia is all the rage, but Diversity reveals that the project combines real footage and computer-generated images.
Directed by Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect, Sisters), the new film will have a similar treatment to Sonic: it will take place in the real world and will be transferred to real actors, except for the characters, babies, who will be in synthetic images. And equipped with the word as in the series.
A choice that is both surprising and logical, since it would be difficult to find children who physically resemble Casse-Bonbons, La Binocle or Les Grumeaux, whose series follows everyday life by setting them on a level, not to mention the matter of dialogues.
Will the film use credits music?
However, their design may be a reboot from earlier this decade, in which computer-generated images replaced 2D animation. But we may have to wait a little longer before we get our first look at this amazing project, which is still in development and has no filming or release date yet.
