The Ministry publishes the list of 11 brands of olive oil not suitable for consumption; check

The companies had their CNPJ registered with the Federal Revenue Service and two of them had already been banned by Anvisa

Summary

Mapa has published a list of 11 olive oil brands unfit for consumption, with companies with CNPJs dumped and fraud detected.

Last Thursday, 3, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) published a list with 11 brands of olive oil considered unfit for consumption. According to the folder, the products were analyzed by the Federal Agricultural Defense Laboratory and were disqualified because they did not comply with the established parameters.

Furthermore, the companies responsible for the products all have their own CNPJ registered with the Federal Revenue Agency, a term which means that the company is no longer in business. According to Mapa, this factor reinforces the occurrence of fraud.

Of the 11 companies, nine are from Rio de Janeiro and two from Santa Catarina. Check out the names:

  1. Rum raisin;
  2. Rio Negro;
  3. Fifth of Aveiro;
  4. Cordillera;
  5. Serrano;
  6. Oviedo;
  7. Imperial;
  8. Black gold;
  9. Carcavelos;
  10. Black Pearl;
  11. The Sucker.

The Serrano and Cordilheira brands have recently been banned by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and the physico-chemical analyzes carried out by Mapa corroborate the thesis that they are fraudulent products.

The ministry also emphasizes that supermarkets and wholesalers who make substandard products of unknown origin available to consumers can also be held liable.

Other brands are still being examined and as soon as the results are concluded the ministry is expected to publish a new list.

Again according to the Map, consumers who have purchased these products can request their replacement according to the methods established by the Consumer Protection Code or even contact the Ministry itself through the official Fala.BR channel, communicating the factory and the address where it is the product was purchased.

The ministry warns that olive oil is the second most fraudulent product in the world, behind only fish.
