Many biographical and real-life inspired films will hit the screens this fall-winter. Here’s an overview, in order of release.
Lee Miller by Ellen Kuras – Released October 9, 2024
Kate Winslet is Lee Miller, one of the first war photographers. A biographical film recounts his story. The British actor will be surrounded by a very good cast: in this feature film by Ellen Kuras, we meet Marion Cotillard and Alexander Skarsgård, as well as Andrea Riseborough, Josh O’Connor and Noemi Merlant.
Lee Miller was the first model to appear on the cover of Vogue. He then became a front-line photographer during World War II. He was also one of the first people to film the horrors of the Buchenwald and Dachau concentration camps.
Niki by Céline Sallette – released on October 9, 2024
For her first feature film as a director, actress Celine Salet will focus on the life of artist Niki de Saint Phalle. Charlotte Le Bon plays the main role of Nick.
In 1961, Niki de Saint Phalle made the first paintings of Thierry, in 1964 he began to create his famous feminist sculptures Nana in sticky paper and resin, before working on monumental installation projects from the 1970s, such as the Tarot Garden in Italy or the Stravinsky Fountain. In Paris… he made the experimental film Daddy in collaboration with director Peter Whitehead in 1972.
The Apprentice – Released on October 9, 2024
This fall, Donald Trump will also make news in theaters. Thanks to The Apprentice, a biopic dedicated to Ali Abbas. Two years after Mashhad Nights, the latter Iran traveled to the United States and signed a completely different film, even if it was to see the product of the company.
Entered into competition at the recent Cannes Film Festival, The Apprentice tells the story of the rise of the future president of the United States under the auspices of lawyer Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong) and what made him the color of high-profile characters. We know today. With a vintage patina, decorations that ooze luxury and bad taste…and a rape scene that earned her threats of legal action from the Trump clan.
Constantly on the edge between an Alec Baldwin-style Saturday Night Live caricature and a smug portrait by Sebastian Stan, The Apprentice almost didn’t make it to the cinema. But he’s going to get there, and that’s another reason not to miss him.

Will this be the most spectacular French biopic of 2024? Although the release of biopics in 2023 has multiplied (Tap, Flo, Abe Pierre…), Mr. Aznauri, carried by Tahar Rahim and directed by Grand Corps Malade and Mehdi Idir, should be the event this month.
