Singer who owns the hit album ‘Brat’ will star in a film directed by Pete Ohs and is involved in other productions for the big screen
After the worldwide success of Bratthe singer Charli XCX will continue to venture into cinema. She will star in the film Eruptiondirected by Pete Ohs and secretly filmed in Poland over the past few months (via Variety).
The way Pete Ohs talked about making his films seemed similar to making an album. The chance meeting we had was also similar to the spontaneous nature of his productions,” said Charli XCX. “Our processes felt connected in some way and it felt right and exciting to pursue some kind of collaboration.”
The film tells the story of two friends in a passionate relationship. American Bethany (Charlie) travels to Warsaw to visit her Polish friend, played by Lena Góra. The film also features Will Madden and Jeremy O. Harris.
Charli is an excellent actress,” he said. Ohs. “She is a performer. She understands what it’s like to have a camera pointed at her. She understands how to convey things through all the different ways we communicate, whether it’s body language, her voice or her facial expressions.”
“She had a scene where she cried, without being asked — she managed to give it all away,” he added. “She is a legitimate actress. I’m proud of us for making a film this way.”
The expectation is that the new production will be a “city film”, with Warsaw taking on a prominent role in the plot as if it were a character. The director also commented on the film’s leaks on social media in August, stating that “it was fun to see that happening”.
Charli has definitely been recognized multiple times,” he said. Ohs. “She was always very sweet. She took selfies with many Polish fans…”
“This is also why our secret project was leaked,” he added Jeremy O.Harris.
Ohs and Harris connected with Charlie in May, when they met at a bar in New York. “I was like, ‘What are you doing in August? Do you want to come to Warsaw?'” the director explained.
Along with Eruption, Charli XCX will star in several other films next year, including Faces of Death with Barbie Ferreira, I Want Your Sex with Olivia Wilde and 100 Nights of Hero with Emma Corrin.
