Ary Toledo, originally from São Paulo, has become one of the most famous comedians in the country. Born in Martinópolis on August 22, 1937, he began to have success in the early 1960s, winning fans on radio and TV together with his wife, fellow comedian Marly Marlei (d. 2014). However, it was his solo career that made him an icon. After all, Ary has amassed more than 60,000 jokes, many with sexual connotations. In the style of another humor icon, Costinha (died 1995).

His humorous albums were very successful in the 70s and 80s. In the 90s and 2000s, Ary Toledo became a constant figure in the TV series Record and SBT, where he had one avid fan: Silvio Santos.
