We review all the confirmed data on the sequel to the spectacular ‘Spider-Man: A new universe’, do you want a new adventure for Miles and company?
Sony usually bets on projects that, a priori, they tend to back down, or that nobody would bet on them, but the move has been going well in recent years and we refer to the evidence. ‘Jumanji: welcome to the jungle’, that generated enormous levels of haterism as soon as it was announced, ended up raising close to a billion dollars, becoming one of the successes of the year, and that its sequel is already filming. ‘Venom’, film that was not very funny to anyone by not having ‘Spider-Man’, and of which the actors themselves spoke, let’s say, regularly, was another box office success that has had a new sequel. And ‘Morbius’ has suffered a seesaw of hatred and claims.
Another clear example was the surprise of the 2018 Christmas season: ‘Spider-Man: A new universe’an animated film with the most famous wall-crawler as the protagonist… but instead of having Peter Parker as a visible face, Sony opted for Miles Morales, much loved by the Marvel fandom, but controversial in his day, and a risky choice, even more so considering that we have Tom Holland with the MCU. But it has worked so well with the public and critics alike that Sony has already given the green light not only to a sequel, but to several spin-offs. In fact, Amy Pascal, head of Sony, has stated that everything is already underway:
Phil Lord, producer of the film, took advantage of an interview on Instagram to comment on news about the production, stating that it is still going on despite the Coronavirus:
“They insist on us every day not to say anything about the movie. I guess they know we can’t be trusted. All I can say is… we were working on it yesterday.”

Let’s go by part, for now we now know its official title: ‘Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse (part 1) ( Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), because it will be a delivery in two parts.

The first thing is to celebrate the good news. Not only will we have a sequel to ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’, but the same story will span two movies. At the moment the date chosen for the first installment, ‘Spider-Man: Crossing the multiverse (part 1)’ is the June 2, 2023. For its part, it is estimated that the second part of the story will hit theaters in 2024.

The first installment ends with Miles Morales returning all the different ‘Spider-Man’s’ to their realities.but we discover that there is another, much easier way to connect with those alternate universes, as Miles and Gwen Stacy speak at the end of the film.
Amy Pascal, ex-president of Sony, and now a producer of films such as ‘Little Women’, ‘Barbie’ or all the ‘Spider-Man’ movies and related to the superhero, has recently spoken about the plans for the sequel and has dropped that we will see a love story between Miles Morales and Gwen that was left out of the first installment. From Sony they want to give a lot of prominence to the women of the Spidey universe, so Gwen will be the basis of this new batch of movies, because there will be, and many.

That villain, we know from film footage is almost certainly The Spot, who has the ability to open paths to new dimensions through the stains on his body.
Recently there is confirmation of a series of spin-offs focused on Gwen Stacy, but also on Spider-Woman (with the identity of Jessica Drew). And also Silk! How many ‘Spider-Man’ identities do we have left to see?
‘Spider-Man: a new universe 2’: Characters of ‘Crossing the multiverse’
Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld, who voice Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy, will almost certainly return in this sequel. In fact, it would be quite surprising if they didn’t. Sony would not have announced the second part without having them confirmed.
Other than that, we know we’ll be seeing most of the original cast again. A ‘Spider-Noir’ (voiced by Nicolas Cage), Penni Parker and ‘Spider-Ham’. From Sony they also want to introduce Silk, and also ‘Spider-Punk’, in addition to ‘Spider-2099’. We could already see the latter in the post-credits scene, and voiced by Oscar Isaac.
It seems that the Spider-Man of tomorrow, also named Miguel O’Hara, will attack Miles in another dimension, although the main villain will be The Spot, voiced by Jason Schwartzman.
For her part, Jessica Drew, that is, Spider-Woman, will have the voice of Issa Rae, known for the HBO Max series ‘Insecure’. It’s great news, the return of the spider woman on the big screen after so long.
The one we will also see is the one known as Japanese Spider-Man: young Takuya Yamashiro receives spider powers when a warrior from the planet Spider gives him a bracelet and injects him with his own blood to fight against Professor Monster and his evil Iron Cross Army.

‘Spider-Man: a new universe 2’: Trailer of ‘Crossing the Multiverse’
In December 2021 we got our first look at the film in a trailer focused primarily on the reunion between Miles and Gwen, but also introduced us to Spider-Man 2099, who attacks Morales in another universe. What’s most surprising about this first trailer is the confirmation that each new dimension of the film will be drawn with a different animation style in a reference-heavy homage to the comics.
