Marisa Sistach was the director of “Perfume of Violets” and the mastermind behind the “Trilogy of Cruelty”, of which the controversial and acclaimed 2001 film is a part.

‘Scent of violets’ is the first film in Sistach’s film trilogy. In 2005 he released ‘Manos libre’, the second part of the ‘Perfume of violets’ trilogy. However, it does not follow the story of Yessica and Miriam, but connects with it through the social problems it faces.
Marisa Sistach did not serve as director of ‘Manos Libres’, but the film’s plot was her idea and she participated in its production. It should be noted that the plot of the film is also based on a real event like ‘Perfume of Violets’.
Its protagonists are two high school girls and two law students. The latter come up with a plan to kidnap one of the young women in order to make easy money for alcohol and drugs. However, the kidnapping does not go as expected.
“Manos libre” didn’t receive the same recognition as “Perfume de violets,” but it stood out because it continued to make visible sexist violence in Mexico.

“The Girl in the Stone” is the name of the third film that makes up the “Scent of Violets” trilogy.
Its story follows Mati, a girl who goes to high school in a small town near the state of Morelos, Mexico, who is constantly harassed by Gabino, her classmate. The young man’s abuse escalates to the point where the story ends in tragedy.
Like “Scent of Violets” and “Hands Free”, “The Girl in the Stone” is inspired by real events. Sistach was also the one who came up with the idea for the plot and shared it with director and producer José Buil.
