If this image looks familiar to you, that’s okay: it recreates the iconic scene from the first opus, when mother and daughter discover they’ve switched bodies. Titled Freakier Friday, this sequel promises to be even crazier and funnier than the first film. This time, Lindsay Lohan’s character Anna has become a mother herself, which complicates the story. His daughter is played by Julia Butters – featured in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time… in Hollywood.
Over the years, this comedy has created the status of a true cult film. Disney studios are going to rekindle the flame with a new generation of viewers and cheer up the old ones. To trick them, Chad Michael Murray returns in the sequel, still under the guise of Jake.
Originally, Freaky Friday was a Seventies comedy starring Jodie Foster, just 14, in a role now played by Lindsay Lohan. Unveiled by Disney productions in the 2000s, the actress regained full control of her career. In 2022, he even signed a contract with the Netflix platform for several films.
Directed by Nisha Ganatra, Freakier Friday will hit theaters on August 6, 2025.
