Director Chris Saunders – already working on Lilo & Stitch, Dragons and The Croods – announced on the mic. term that a sequel was in development at DreamWorks Animation. “100% yes, there are absolutely plans for a second movie.”
The studio’s plans were, in fact, from the beginning to adapt the literary trilogy to the screen. Therefore, a second opus is planned, and if it is successful, there is a good chance that the third part will also see the light of day.
