In season 4 of The Boys, the fight between the vigilante group Vought International and the superheroes continued. And, despite presenting a certain difficulty in the development of the story, the end of the series brought about a fact that will have serious consequences for the next episodes.
In fact, season 5 will be responsible for ending the boys’ plot against Vought. However, the series leaves a lot of room for the creation of further spin-offs of the series. Read on and understand the ending of season 4.
The realization of Homelander’s plans
During season 4, Homelander, Antony Starr’s character Homelander was irritated after not seeing immediate results in the moves made by Sage (Susan Heyward). Then, in the penultimate episode, he fires her. Therefore, he announces Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) as a super secret.
The betrayal makes Neuman realize that he was just a puppet. He then turns to Hughie (Jack Quaid), offering help. In exchange, she wants them to help her date her daughter. While Hughie wants to help her, the others are still undecided.
While this is happening in the plot, there is an assassination attempt on Robert Singer (Jim Beaver) by an intelligent shapeshifter posing as Annie/Starlight (Erin Moriarty). As the story unfolds, a video leaks of Senger planning Neuman’s murder. Therefore, Senator Calhoun (David Andrews) is appointed president.
One of his first acts is to grant more power and autonomy to Captain Patria. It does so with the aim of getting “dangerous” Starlight supporters out of the government and off the streets.
In a post-credits scene there is an opening for the continuation of the story. As Homelander appears on top of the world, he finds Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) being kept alive in a chamber.
Billy Butcher dies?
After receiving a terminal diagnosis, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) reveals to Hughie that he took Compound V and yet his symptoms worsened. However, Butcher is now a super, being able to remove deadly creatures from his chest, giving him the ability to kill multiple enemies at once.
In one of the scenes of the series, he uses this power to keep everyone away while he destroys Victoria, leaving everyone stunned.
The kids are even further away from stopping Homelander
Despite gaining useful information throughout the story with the help of a fed-up A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), they still haven’t managed to make a difference.
The A-Train has to flee after being discovered. In the midst of all this, desperate to save her life, Ashley (Colby Minifie) takes Compound V. The boys’ plan is to carry on with their new identities until the dust settles.
However, Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are taken in by Gen V’s Cate (Maddie Phillips). With that, there was a mystery in the air, as she whispered something in Frenchie’s ear.
