Dorival’s selection still leaves more questions than answers

At the end of October’s FIFA data, none of the players who marked the start of Dorival’s cycle in March appear to be growing

Rebuilt on the table, but not yet emotionally. The Seleção thus closed the October FIFA Date after victories over Chile and Peru. Most of the athletes who make up the team today had never experienced a moment of so much pressure with Canarinho, until relief came with fourth place in the qualifiers. Luiz Henrique and Savinho, in fact, are the big winners of this period.

When you follow on site At the start of Dorival Jr’s spell in charge of Amarelinha in friendlies against England and Spain in Europe in March, I could see the coach assembling the Seleção based on his best players. And it couldn’t be different. Names like Rodrygo and Vini Jr, but also midfielders who play successfully outside Brazil, and the expert Danilo, a right back who knows how to play as a defender.

But, curiously, at the end of October’s FIFA Date, with two crucial (and even obligatory) triumphs, none of these players appear to be on the rise.

The Brazilian team usually does not have a constrained position. After all, the biggest names are not references for a well put together game. And no matter how severe the high number of absences was, Dorival must act with a firm hand. Such action, in fact, would begin with the change in the team construction policy, starting to prioritize performance within Canarinho. And not necessarily for clubs.

It is therefore not a question of who can do more for the national team. But who, in practice, can achieve better results. Even though most of these players are on the alternate shelf. Savinho, Luiz Henrique, Gerson, Igor Jesus… and that’s why these latest FIFA data leave more questions than answers.

Of course, in the midst of a long-term competition in a well-constructed team, Vini Jr is the absolute starter. And there is no discussion about this. After all, he plays at an excellent level for Real Madrid. The example may (or may not) extend to others playing foreign football.

The idea behind creating Canarinho is based on who the best are. But, from what we have seen, why couldn’t the assembly be, as a priority, with those who have greater efficiency in Selection?

How to call the main players from outside the country and tell someone “Look, you’re going to start on the bench”? Ah, this now becomes a cast management task. With the right sequence in the midst of construction, these athletes will naturally be starters.

On the other hand, the Brazilian team does not allow the valorization of a sequence that is not in the clubs. And if Rodrygo, Endrick and Vini Jr destroy their opponents in the Champions League, or against a bitter rival team, how can we remember, for example, Luiz Henrique or Igor Jesus in matches against powerhouses Chile and Peru? How can we ignore a feat by the magical trio or other “external” Brazilians against the best teams in the world?

There are therefore factors that weigh more than performance in Brazilian football. Just like what happens in Europe, outside of FIFA Dates, ends up becoming bigger than what happened in the national team.

It’s understandable that as the matches in Brazil approach, it’s important to take into account what the players are doing in the biggest football matches on the planet. And these definitely don’t include selections from Chile or Peru. Therefore, the evaluation of greatness or quality is based on what athletes are performing in the most important games.

We look outside to measure the performance and insert the player into the national team. On the surface it seems obvious. But when you take a more mature team, like Argentina, you don’t see, for example, Scaloni necessarily evaluating what’s going on at each club to list his squad.

There is talent in Brazil. It will always exist. What is missing, however, is the structure to transform talent into a national team.

Against opponents who have fought until the end of these qualifiers, the Brazilian team will have to move the ball and the athletes with speed until spaces open up in defense.

Either Dorival embraces a trail, albeit small, of these recent victories to put Brazil at the FIFA meeting in November or he keeps his eyes fixed outside the Seleção, with the return of the absences and their “untransferable” titles.
