‘Ant-Man 3’: Everything we know about ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’

The quantum superhero pair will return in Marvel’s Phase 4 in 2023, and perhaps include Cassie Lang’s Young Avengers.

Ant-Man and the Wasp are back from the Quantum Realm. After two films and several appearances in other franchise titles, Scott Lang has become one of the most charismatic superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (UCM). A superhero with a world of its own and autonomous from the rest of the Marvel movies, at the same time that it is very close to the backbone of the UCM. Also, his connection to the Quantum Realm now that Marvel’s Phase 4 is opening up to other parallel universes may make Ant-Man a key figure in the movies to come.

That is everything we know about ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’.

‘Ant-Man 3’ release date: When does Quantumania hit theaters?

According to him Marvel Phase 4 schedulethe film will hit theaters on February 17, 2023, after ‘Black Panther 2’. It’s been several months since ‘Ant Man 3’ has finished filming in Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire and has been immersed in the post-production process ever since.

‘Ant-Man 3’ synopsis: What is Quantumania about?

At the moment we do not have an official synopsis of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ beyond its title, but this already confirms that we will return to the Quantum Realm. If in the two previous Ant-Man movies he already played an important role, it is possible that now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe includes other parallel worlds, the Quantum Kingdom will be even more important.

Any other official information is likely to take some time to arrive. Before the third installment of Ant-Man, some of the main films of this new phase of the UCM have to be released and Marvel Studios is going to be very careful not to publish anything that could reveal essential details of what we will see there.

For its part, the confirmed appearance in the film by Kang the Conqueredr points out that this will be the villain in this third installment. There is always the possibility that Kang will be limited to a tangential presence in the film and that the main antagonist role will be played by some other villain, but we have already seen, in a parallel version, the character at the end of ‘Loki’ and everything indicates that this will be his first official confrontation with a superhero. It is expected that in ‘Ant-Man 3’ Marvel will present the new villain of a new duration, a new Thanosand everything seems to indicate that it will be linked to Kang.

On the other hand, during the five years that Scott Lang was trapped in the Quantum Realm, his daughter, Cassie Lang, has grown up and become a teenager. This opens the possibility that Marvel will finally launch that arc of the comics that turned the character into the superheroine Stature, one of the founding members of the Young Avengers. Already at the time, in 2018, Payton Reed assured that they were going to “plant the seeds” of Cassie’s future; and recently Kathryn Newtonwho will play the character from now on, hinted at something similar on Instagram.

These rumours, together with the closeness in the calendar of ‘Ant-Man 3’ and ‘The Avengers 5’, have led us to think that ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ could represent in Phase 4 of Marvel a homologous role to that of ‘Civil War’ in the previous one. a half film crossover that would group together the young characters scattered in series and movies to form the young avengers and prepare them for the next final event of this Phase.

Cast of ‘Ant-Man 3’: Who returns to Quantumania?

As expected, among the confirmed cast of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ are Paul Rudd as Ant-Man/Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as The Wasp / Hope Van Dyne. Together with them they will also return michael douglas Y michelle pfeiffer as Dr. Hank Pym and Janent Van Dyne respectively, the previous incarnations of the superheroes.

Instead, despite the fact that we will meet again with Cassie Lang, Scott’s daughter, neither Abby Ryder Forsom -who played her in the previous two films in the series-, nor Emma Fuhrmann -who did the same in ‘Avengers: Endgame ‘- will return playing the character. Instead we will meet Kathryn Newton, the actress of ‘Big Little Lies’. This is a relevant change that points to a greater importance of the character destined to become Height.

Among the new appearances, the appearance of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, a supervillain with the power to travel through time who in the comics has frequently clashed with the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. It won’t be Majors’ first or last appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the end of ‘Loki’ we already met a version of the character from a parallel universe who called himself “The One Who Remains”, and it seems that Kang will reappear in other MCU projects. Will it be the next Thanos? Is Kang preparing for the ultimate return of the Fantastic Four?

It also seems certain, although Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed this, that in ‘Ant-Man 3’ the emblematic Bill Murray will enter the world of superheroes with a still unknown character.

    jonathan majors, kang

As for the absences, it seems certain that he will not repeat another recurring character in the Ant-Man movies, Dave. Scott’s friend was played by rapper IT, who is currently immersed in several accusations of sexual abuse. Because of these circumstances or not, Marvel has decided to remove him from the franchise.

More regrettable are other possible absences such as that of David Dastmalchian as Kurt; Judy Greer as Scott’s ex-wife -Maggie- and bobby cannavale as her new husband -Jim Paxton-. Lastly, the return of randall park as agent Jimmy Woo, although the character has already returned in ‘WandaVision’ and it seems that he will be recurring in the Universe.

    ‘Ant-Man 3’: The Quantumania Team

On the other side of the camera of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ repeats the director Payton Reed, who was already in charge of the previous films. However, those responsible for the story change. While the previous two films passed through the hands of many screenwriters, this third installment bears the signature of a single screenwriter: Jeff Loveness in his debut on the big screen after having stood out as one of the writers of the last seasons of ‘Rick and Morty’. Not even Paul Rudd, who was the only writer who participated in the two previous installments, repeats this time.

    ‘Ant-Man 3’: Trailer and poster

As the premiere of the film approaches and it refines the production process, it is possible that we will discover new materials, but even so, its release date in 2023 makes it clear that there is still a long way to go before we see something similar to a trailer. For now, we have to make do with the movie’s logo and tweets from cast members.
