That’s according to the distributors of Terrifier 3, who have revealed that teenage moviegoers may have bought tickets to the family film to sneak into theaters for the current horror sensation.
The third installment of the hit saga focuses on a murderous clown, Art (David Howard Thorton), who terrorizes anyone who gets in his way. Damien Leone’s film, which is not rated in the United States (although it is indeed banned in our country for people under 18), earned $18.9 million at the box office in its first weekend, far surpassing Le Robot Sauvage, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Joker: Folie à Deux.
But it looks like big American movie distributors like AMC, Cinemark and Regal will slow down again. Horror 3 in the box office. Indeed, according to The Hollywood Reporter, major theaters have done the trick Horror 3 As an Adults Only (R-Rated) film and denied to anyone 17 years of age or older to purchase a ticket without a parent or guardian.
However, it seems that some young moviegoers have found a way to bypass the internal security of cinemas by purchasing tickets. A wild robot to sneak into the broadcast rooms afterwards Horror 3 : Distributors have indeed seen a remarkable increase in the animated film’s box office.
Distorted figures?
despite everything Horror 3 It continues to exceed expectations at the box office and became the highest-grossing horror film in its first week this year. With a score of 74% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film is on track to become the highest-grossing non-rated film of all time in the United States – a horror genre success that was potentially destroyed by its own distributors. Still, after those doubts, a box office debut of $18.9 million can only be an understatement of its commercial success (and vice versa. A wild robot so).
Before the pandemic, few cinemas were showing unrated films due to strict restrictions on public advertising, but as we have seen Horror 3Times have changed. The film opened in 2,513 theaters – a larger theatrical release than its predecessors. But even without a rating, it suffers partly from R-Rated, by box office standards, and because of the excess of blood and violence that would cause people to leave and even vomit from its opening scene. However, this conflict is probably what drew teenagers and young adults to the movies…
