The Count of Monte Cristo: The Movie With Pierre Nini Surpasses (Again!) France’s Cult Success

The Count of Monte Cristo continues to climb the French box office. The adaptation of the book by Alexandre Dumas, released almost four months ago, continues to attract audiences in theaters, surpassing the 9 million admissions mark. A well-deserved success, of course, but still remarkable considering the duration of this epic mural – almost three hours.

Thus, Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre De La Patellière’s blockbuster surpasses Emmanuelle’s erotic film Just Jaeckin – which was exhibited on the Champs Elysées for more than a decade. The Count of Monte Cristo is also set to beat Jean-Jacques Anna’s The Bear and Luc Besson’s Big Blue. It will thus become the 16th biggest French success, behind Jacques Weber’s Le Dîner de cons.

On his official X account, Pierre Nin was delighted with the news: “20 years ago, in my teenage bedroom, I dreamed of writing great texts, but I did not dare to imagine myself acting in a TV movie… Dantes was already worried, you made this epic immortal. thank you

Nine million viewers are added to two million records worldwide, as the actor specifies, but the adventure is not over. The film will be released in the US on December 20. American distributor Samuel Goldwyn Films is already planning to submit the film in all categories for the next Oscar ceremony.

On the French side, The Count of Monte Cristo is well on its way to winning multiple César awards. The film will be released on November 6.

The Count of Monte Cristo is still a must-see at the cinema.
