Flamengo elections for the three-year period 2025/2026/2027 will be held on 9 December
As the elections approach in Flamengo, the candidate lists are in full swing. This Monday (21st), there were two reversals, Wallim Vasconcellos and Pedro Paulo Vila saw their candidacies blocked. As a result, only three candidates (of the six registered) can compete: Rodrigo Dunshee de Abranches with the “UNIFLA” ticket, Maurício Gomes de Mattos “Mengão Maior” and Luiz Eduardo Baptista (Bap) “Raça, Amor e Gestão”.
The Permanent Electoral Commission (CPE) approved the candidacy and claims that Wallim’s ticket, “Flamengo em Outro Patamar”, forged the signatures of the members nominated in the transitional bodies of the Deliberative Council and the Board of Directors. Part of the report presented by the CPE talks about the analysis of the documents in question.
– This is an attempted fraud identified, ascertained and proven within the scope of the competences and investigations carried out by the Electoral Commission (…) In the case in question, the attempted electoral fraud occurred through the delivery of forms for CPE with non-signatures recognized by the members themselves who would, in theory, be signatories of the aforementioned documents – says part of the entity document.
Pedro Paulo’s ticket, “Tradição e Juventude do Flamengo”, was blocked due to “absence of authorization signed by eligible members”.
After the CPE’s decision, Wallim released a video on his social networks in which he talks about the case, which can still be appealed.
– We were surprised by the Permanent Electoral Commission’s decision to deny registration of our ticket. Yes, total nonsense because we have fulfilled all the requirements, indeed, even more than what the statute requires and differently from what is required of the other lists. It’s incredible. And a 2012 movie starts to show me, who remembers that the ticket I was running got impeached? Essentially the same thing is happening in 2024, with only one difference: those who in 2012 opposed those practices that took place in the old Flamengo are the people who today want to contest our ticket. We will remain firm, we will appeal to the Board of Directors and I am sure that they will approve the registration of our ticket. Flamengo in danger, guys. We can’t give up now, let’s go in and win this election – the candidate said.
