Warning, this article contains spoilers for The Lincoln Defense Season 3 and spoilers for the rest of the series based on the novels from which the Netflix series is adapted.
It’s been a rough season for Mickey Haller and the rest of his team at The Lincoln Defense. In the latest episodes released online by Netflix, the lawyer attacked those in power. And even if he managed to free his client, it was not without problems: the latter was attacked in the hospital, his young driver Eddie died, Inspector Neil Bishop killed himself in court after throwing De Marco…
While we thought the story was behind him, the final scene of season 3 suggests that Mickey must pay the consequences of his actions. He attacked the police, the institution that maintains omerta. Now he’s trapped and accused of a murder he didn’t commit. So what is the body found in his trunk and what happens to it? You have to refer to the books to get the answer…
Nothing is going well for Mickey Haller
While Netflix has yet to announce a renewal for The Lincoln Defense for Season 4, the legal series’ popularity and latest twists will make viewers want to find out. A sequel to be taken from volume 6 of the literary collection written by Michael Connelly and summarized here:
Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), out drinking to celebrate his victory in court, is pulled over for not having a license plate. But when he opened the trunk of Haller’s car, the officer found a body inside. That of a con man who was repeatedly defended by a lawyer until his client cheated him in turn.
Accused of murder and unable to post $5 million bail, Haller is immediately arrested and faces the prosecutor who wants his life, Dana Berg. He understands that he was created – but by whom and why? – and will decide to defend himself during the trial. It’s not easy when, in addition to being in prison and therefore the target of abuse, he’s the victim of a scheme that will be difficult to unravel.
If the screenwriters of The Lincoln Defense managed to adapt at least part of Connell’s novel, the audience will be waiting for the fourth season of Dantesque: because for the first time since the beginning of the Netflix series, Mickey will be both the accused and the lawyer. No more Lincoln walks and long live prison orange clothes!
