Among the most popular films in Meryl Streepit is Mamma Mia! (2008), based on the musical of the same name, packed with the group’s songs Abba. Interestingly, the actress’s inspiration to participate in the film came from something unexpected: the attacks of September 11, 2001.
In a 2023 interview with Vogue, Meryl Streep explained how the tragedy motivated her to participate in Mamma Mia!. First, he recalled that many parents at the school where his children studied lost their lives during the terrorist attack.
She said:
My children were all at school in New York in September 2001 and 11 parents there died in the attacks. It was an extremely traumatic event for everyone in the city and Mamma Mia! It became important to me and my family at the time.”
Afterwards, the artist revealed her family’s connection with the work. Shortly after the attacks, he took one of his daughters and her friends to see the musical, resulting in a great memory during a difficult time.
