Three people are missing after the rain in the state of SP; there is a warning for gusty winds


According to the Civil Protection, the weather will remain unstable, with the possibility of wind gusts of up to 70 km/h in the metropolitan region of São Paulo and Baixada Santista.

Three people remain missing due to the storm rains which hit the state of Sao Paulo in recent daysas reported this Friday 25th, the Civil Protection of the State of Sao Paulo. Rescue teams work to search for survivors.




In Campinasin the hinterland of São Paulo, where on Thursday 24th the rains caused the Piçarrão and Serafim streams to flood, two people were swept away by the flood in Sílvio Noro and Ademar de Barros streets.

In Itapeviin the metropolitan region, a motorbike courier was swept away on Wednesday 23rd and has not yet been located.

State of alert for gusts of wind

In the next few hours the weather will remain unstable, according to the state agency. Gusty wind conditions up to are expected 70 kilometers per hour for the metropolitan region of Sao Paulo and Baixada Santista. “Caution is recommended in the most vulnerable areas, as there is a risk of unrest”, warns the Civil Protection of the State of SP.

Thursday on heavy rains Storms reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h were recorded in some regionsleaving a trail of fallen trees, destroyed homes and collapsed structures in several municipalities across the state.

  • Sao Paulo (REPDEC M-1) – Fall of trees
  • Jaborandi – Fall of trees, fall of walls and roofs of houses (24 displaced)
  • Taquaritinga – Falling trees
  • Avaré – Fall of trees and house roofs (24 displaced)
  • Paranapanema – Destruction of a children’s school pavilion
  • Sertãozinho – Destruction of a petrol station and fall of 15 trees
  • Gabriel Monteiro – Dismantling an event facility
  • Ourinhos – Falling trees
  • Ubatuba – Falling trees
  • Guaratinguetá – 2 points of flooding, the situation has returned to normal
  • Taubaté – Fall of trees (2 minor victims), roofing of houses and fall of walls.
  • Cajamar – 2 trees fell on electrical cables
  • Campinas – Flood (2 people missing)
  • Jandira – 1 missing person
