Ability to evaluate multiple projects Dwayne Johnson.

Jumanji 4 coming soon?

Let’s start with Jumanji 4. The third film of the trilogy starring Dwayne Johnson is expected to be shot soon. In March 2021, producer Hiram Garcia, a friend and loyal collaborator of The Rock, announced that the cast would return Jumanji 4. “We have started to discuss the 4th part. I can’t tell you anything yet, but this is one of our biggest projects, and also one of our favorites. We are planning big things. It’s all in the fire. Once Jake Kasdan and Dwayne Johnson finish Red One, Jumanji will be on deck“.

And actually, Red One is over, so expect news on Jumanji 4 soon.

A suspicious trio will try to rescue Santa Claus, who is being held captive by a mysterious organization. The film will be released in US cinemas on November 15th, in France the date is unknown.

Dwayne Johnson in a wrestling movie

The actor will next change register as he stars in Benny Safdie’s wrestling film The Smashing Machine. Produced by A24, the film is a biopic about MMA and wrestling champion Mark Kerr, who battled a painkiller addiction for many years.

The story is especially reminiscent of two notable wrestling productions, with the wrestler Mickey Rourke and the Iron Claw with Zac Efron. The production company also released the first photo. The release date is not yet known.

Twice as much Moana and Maui

Last February, Disney announced a surprise sequel to The Adventures of Maui, the hero of the Pacific and the demigod, with Johnson doubling for the original version. Directed by David G. Derrick Jr., Moana 2 combines the animated series originally planned for Disney+ into an epic feature film that takes a young woman and her crew into the treacherous waters of the ocean seas. Dwayne Johnson and Auli Cravalho will return as voice actors. The animated film is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 27, 2024.

But Dwayne Johnson is quickly reprising his role as the demigod as the live-action version of Moana is slated to hit our theaters on July 8, 2026. In April 2023, Dwayne Johnson announced a live-action film adapted from the animated film by John Musker and Ron Clements, Moana, Legend of the End of the World. The man who voices the demigod Maui announced the project in a video featuring him and his two daughters from the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

Directed by Thomas Kyle, the feature film will be directed by Dwayne Johnson and young Catherine Lagaia – who has already appeared in the cast of the TV series Les Fleurs Sauvages – who will bring her features to the live-action Waianae feature. Thus, the young girl replaces the actress Auli Cravalho, who voices the Disney character in the animated film and its sequel.

Return to the Fast & Furious saga

Rock is set to direct not one, but two Fast & Furious spin-offs: Hobbs & Shaw 2 with Jason Statham, which has been announced for several years, and Hobbs & Reyes, which will pit him against his hometown buddy Jason Momoa. The main antagonist of the tenth part of the Fast & Furious saga.

This feature film is supposed to be a tie-in between the end of Vin Diesel’s Fast, which is – as of now – scheduled for 2026.

Hobbs and Shaw

After struggling to find his place in the saga, Rocky became one of the mainstays of the $7 billion franchise, and despite falling out with Vin Diesel, producers asked him to return for the grand finale. But after the spin-off was announced Hobbs and Race In 2023, no more news about the project was filtered. So we still don’t know if this movie will see the light of day and if not, if the story between Luke Hobbs and Dante Reiss will be included. Fast & Furious 11 Always directed by Louis Leterrier.

The Rock at JJ Abrams

Despite his already busy schedule, Dwayne Johnson will also be cast in JJ Abrams’ new mystery film. On October 17, the actor and producer shared a photo with the filmmaker along with the following message:Years of work – we finally shared bread, drank, laughed, drank (or maybe that was just me), talked about life, love, boys and found time to talk about our passion for cinema and storytelling. Then we raised our glasses and toasted…”

And everything suggests that the star has agreed with Hollywood’s most secretive director (Christopher Nolan) by not revealing anything about the project. In addition to being “fun” and “born in the mind of Zach Penn”, the screenwriter of Ready Player One, Free Guy or Avengers, also in a photo placed between JJ Abrams and Hiram GarciaActor’s production partner.

The first option would be the Super 8 auteur’s next film: a feature film about which we don’t currently know much (surprisingly!) except that it will reunite Glenn Powell and Jenna Ortega. According to the latest rumors, a supernatural being is facing the couple.

Except Zac Penn isn’t associated with this movie, officially at least. So it has to be another project. Perhaps not for cinema itself, as JJ Abrams’ work, which can both direct and produce, spans the small and big screens. Suffice it to say, the mystery is complete for now.
