Netflix: Canceled in 2020, this French series was one of the most watched on the platform this year

Four years after its cancellation, La Révolution is back in full swing! As Netflix has revealed, the series remains one of the most watched French programs on the platform, despite its cancellation in 2020 after just one season.

Its first trailer, symbolically released on July 14 of the same year, promised a lot: a historical French series full of action and, in other words, an epic the likes of which we rarely see. Its eight episodes were later posted online in October 2020, and there, it was an episode that sealed the fate of a series that still had potential, perhaps a little too much compared to American shows – and a reality that allowed itself to take liberties.

Then some spoke “A fiasco” (Le Monde), with “Too much hemoglobin, inconsistencies, too many clichés and unconvincing casting” (Le Parisien), others admitted “participate in the game“certain”curiosity“, also allows himself”Fascinated by these French reconstructions of the late 18th century” (La Voix du Nord).

The public has also been mixed, but many agree, praising its photography, sets, brilliant costumes, actors and soundtrack. Rated 3 out of 5 by AlloCiné viewers, the reviews speak for an “interesting” series to get into – especially if we don’t listen to the reviews! “Success at all levels” for fans and a series that has everything you need: suspense, intrigue, a fascinating story and good actors, and which shows the French Revolution in a new light.

And that’s why, four years after its cancellation, it remains one of the most-watched programs on Netflix – behind Lupine and Gone Forever, as you can see in the graph above, which shows the number of views recorded by the platform (in millions). During the first half of 2024. Amir El Kachem, Marilu Ausilu, Lionel Erdogan, Isabel Aimee Gonzalez, Julien Frison, Dudu Masta, Colin Beal, Dimitri Storozh, Amelia Lakemant and Gaia Weiss participated in the series.

You can watch or preview all eight episodes of Revolution exclusively on Netflix.
