A new movie will be released on Netflix that celebrates the holidays of the year, and we can already predict a huge success. Titled That Christmas, this animated feature is written by Richard Curtis, screenwriter of iconic romantic comedies such as Four Weddings and a Funeral and Bridget Jones, who later became a director with even greater success, notably Love Actually.
Released more than twenty years ago, Love Actually – often touted as the ultimate romantic comedy – has also become a favorite Christmas movie among moviegoers. It’s traditional for those who enjoy the holiday spirit to watch a movie at least once a year.
His popularity also allowed him to sing All I want for Christmas by Mariah Carey to become a top Christmas hit.
More than two decades after his debut, Richard Curtis is set to sign on for a new Christmas movie adapted from his own children’s novel. Like Love Actually, this Christmas features the intertwining stories of several characters, including Santa himself!
The American press loves the movie!
Accustomed to star castings, Richard Curtis has joined a prestigious cast for the dubbing of his new film. Thus, the original version sees the formidable Brian Cox (Heritage) voicing Santa Claus; The names of Bill Nighy (Richard Curtis’ favorite actor), Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who) and Fiona Shaw (Aunt Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter saga) also appear in the film’s credits.
The first criticism that has reached us from American journalists leads to A “Enchanting animated film” (According to Lovia Giarkier The Hollywood Reporter), “With soothing charm and a British sensibility” (According to Robbie Collin telegraph) or even “A holiday classic that’s also aimed at kids(For Peter DeBrugge Diversity).
Directed by Simon Otto and written by Richard Curtis, That Christmas will be available exclusively on Netflix from December 4th.
