Maria Eduarda Fardelone de Carvalho, 25, died after being accidentally shot in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo, according to investigations by the Civil Police. The shooting occurred as a friend of the victim handled the gun of an off-duty military police officer inside an apartment.

The case occurred on the night of October 20, in Rua Allan Kardec. Military police officers who responded to the incident reported that the young woman was hit on the spot and did not resist. Investigations were launched and the prime minister’s weapon was seized.
The killer and the police officer were arrested in the act; she paid bail and will be released, while he was locked up in the Romão Gomes prison and removed from his position, according to the Secretariat of Public Security.
The case was registered as murder, seizure of object and illegal possession of weapons at the Guarujá police station and sent to the court.
