“The Series That Hooked Me to the License”: After 3 episodes, this sequel to Dragon Ball Z is making fans of the saga happy!

This is probably the most emblematic series of the early 90s in France. Headed by the show Club Dorothée, Dragon Ball Z helped introduce manga culture to our country. More than thirty years after its broadcast, the series remains extremely popular in our region and extremely profitable for its production studio.

After DBZ, an unofficial sequel called Dragon Ball GT was released in 1996. This series was not successful and we had to wait almost twenty years for a new sequel – this time officially – to see the light of day: Dragon Ball Super. Unfortunately, this show did not live up to expectations and the anime broadcast has been delayed since 2018…

Against all expectations, the new project was announced at New York Comic Con 2023. Titled Dragon Ball DAIMA, this series sees the Dragon Ball characters return to childhood after a wish granted to the dragon Shenron. It is the last project directed by Akira Toriyama, the author of the original manga, who died on March 1 at the age of 68.

This posthumous anime debuted on Japanese television on October 11, as well as on the ADN and Crunchyroll platforms, which offer it simultaneously. The series also airs in France every Tuesday on the Mangas channel, as well as D+7 on Netflix. What did fans of the original program think of this new sequel? We offer an anthology of reactions published on social networks!
