This Saturday (2), the city of Edmonton, Canada hosted a UFC event. In the main fight, an important duel in the flyweight category, between Brandon Moreno and Amir Albazi, in search of the future category challenger.
The Mexican, former champion of the category, did not have many problems showing his serve in the main event. With full control of the fight from start to finish, Assassin Baby achieved victory and kept his dream of fighting for the flyweight title again alive
The fight
It was a fight where Moreno didn’t face any adversity inside the Octagon. The main event of UFC Edmonton started with balance, but soon the Mexican managed to land a good right hand and annoy the Iraqi. Then, a low kick and an upper kick were the former flyweight champion’s displays of strength in the first part of the fight.
In the second round the Mexican’s dominance continued with good combinations. Albazi managed to get the takedown, but was unsuccessful. The fight took on a more tense tone when the Iraqi managed to catch him with a good hook at the beginning of the third round, but was rejected with a blow that caused a cut. However, in this part of the fight everything continued towards the “Assassin Baby” dominance.
Everything remained the same in the fourth round. The Mexican continued to offer maximum offensive strength and Albazi could do little in the face of this advance. Not even a poke to the Iraqi’s eye in the fifth and final round managed to change the course of the fight. Another good punch from Moreno hit Albazi hard who made no effort to manage the fight until the end and secure the victory.
Brazilian night
There were five Brazilians fighting this Saturday at UFC Edmonton. Only one of them, Brendson Ribeiro, managed to emerge victorious from his battle, and that against a compatriot. “Zyzz” faced Caio Machado in a fight with a lot of emotion and commitment from both. Fought primarily on the feet, the duel featured great lateral strikes from both fighters. In the end, it was “The Gorilla” who took home the judges’ decision.
Ariane Lipski also had some success in her fight against Jasmine Jasudavicius. The ‘Queen of Violence’ dominated the first round, managing to avoid the Canadian’s takedowns and hitting her rival hard, but in the second part of the fight she saw Jasudavicius manage to equalize and take the match to the ground, making the Brazilian suffer. with the ‘grind and pound’. Ariane was knocked down again in the third round, once again finding herself dominated by her opponent’s punching pressure and, when given the chance, Jasmine secured the submission and won the fight.
Veteran Pedro Munhoz was looking to end a two-fight losing streak in the UFC by taking on Aiemann Zahabi. After a very balanced first round, the Canadian began to dictate the pace of the fight starting from the second half, being more effective with his strikes and leaving little space for the Brazilian to respond. Munhoz managed to stay alive as much as he could in the fight and attack, but it was little compared to the precision of Zahabi, who suffered little in the fight and forced the third consecutive stumble on the Sao Paulo native.
Against Alexandr Romanov, Rodrigo Zé Colmeia was also trying to rehabilitate himself in Ultimate. But the Moldovan fighter gave the Brazilian no respite during the fight, especially on the ground. The fight between “King Kong” was overwhelming and left little room for the Minas Gerais native to react. In the third round the Brazilian manages to exploit some offensive opportunities, but it is not enough to avoid defeat.
