In the 80s he was called the “gentleman thief” and he is still in the news. Prime Video released Libre, Melanie Laurent’s latest product, a few days ago.

Inspired by real events, the film takes us into the turbulent wave of Bruno Sulak, the real Arsene Lupine of the 20th century. A fierce robber, a loyal friend, an icon of freedom, Bruno Sulak left his mark on the history of banditry with the non-violent robbery of many jewelry stores. Although actively sought after by George Moreas, a non-conformist police commissioner both tough and perceptive, Sulak managed to escape from prison several times to find Tally, his lover and accomplice, becoming public enemy number one.

To play him on screen, Mélanie Laurent had only one name in mind: Lucas Bravo. The footballer’s son’s career took off in 2020 after he was cast as Emily in the Netflix series Paris. Since then, Bravo has taken off and landed roles in film and television.

In this feature film, he floats this free thinker, whose story has not necessarily crossed generations. For the viewer, it is an opportunity to discover a part of his life. At our microphone, Lucas Bravo returned to his character, as well as the gray areas left by the script.

Who was Bruno Sulak really? The answer in our latest issue of “Rencontre”.
