Warning – The following article contains spoilers for “Venom 3” as it previews some elements of its story, including its ending and post-credits scenes. So please go ahead if you haven’t seen it yet.
Like Kyo and Michael Jordan, Venom offered up The Last Dance, which hit theaters on Wednesday, October 30. Six years after Tom Hardy’s first opus, Sony’s Marvel saga completes its third pass… and at the same time says goodbye? We collect supplies.
How does “Venom 3” end?
“till death do them part”– says the poster of Kelly Marcel’s movie. And that idea comes through in the story, where it’s revealed that Eddie and/or Venom’s death may be the key to preventing symbiote creator Knull (Andy Serkis) from leaving his intergalactic prison and destroying Earth. .
Although the Big Bad has sent his indestructible masters to retrieve Venom, the owner of the Codex who can free him, the latter decides to sacrifice himself to save Eddie and his planet in a giant rain of acid, which is destroyed along with its creatures. Only then did he manage to absorb it. The end of the last dance.
What are the post-credits scenes?
Now alone, Eddie still goes to New York City, to the Statue of Liberty that Venom has dreamed of seeing. Then the credits begin, which merges into a scene showing that the cat has not given up and promises to leave the prison and the great flood of destruction. How, now that the key is dead with the symbiote, we don’t know. But there is a tease.
A few minutes later, the second post-credits scene allows us to find the bartender (Cristo Fernandez) at the beginning: captured by the special forces and taken to Area 51 due to his contact with Venom, he leaves before the building is destroyed. . A passage that’s more of a wink than anything else, even if the last image shows an animal in contact with symbiote residue.
Is it planned to continue?
No. Or not officially. The movie is called The Last Dance, Venom dies there and, although he promises Eddie that they will meet again, there is no indication of a possible return. We can then question the fact of teasing about the threat Knull poses, if nothing follows it.
Unless it’s building a bridge between that world and the MCU and suggesting that Tom Holland is going to face the big bad in his next adventure in the Spider-Man suit, which is expected in July 2026. For our part, but it would allow us to connect this movie to an element of No Way Home that we never talk about here: the piece of symbiote that was left in Peter Parker’s universe when Eddie was sent home.
Logan-style poison?
Could this be a way to introduce Venom into the MCU, with the ability to replace Eddie’s translator if needed? The cat needing the symbiote to free itself might further explain this post-credits scene. But we have to wait to find out for sure.
Meanwhile, Tom Hardy offered in an interview TheWrapThat he’s probably not done with Venom: Asked about the possibility of returning for a dark, serious and violent episode à la Logan, the actor said he was ready. In his or Tom Holland’s world.
