– We know that Brazilians are passionate about football and we are thrilled to be able to offer Brasileirão to all Prime members, increasing our sports offering in Brazil, which already includes the Copa do Brasil and the NBA, as well as films and series. The agreement with LFU for the next five seasons of the Brazilian Serie A reinforces the commitment to offer new unmissable content every week of the year to our Prime members – said Paulo Koelle, Director of Prime Video for Latin America .
– Série A brings the games of Brazil’s biggest football clubs to Prime Video and represents another milestone for our growing sports offering around the world. This long-term agreement will allow us to bring the Brasileirão to all Prime members at no additional cost and with the best production quality, which will put fans at the center of the action throughout the championship – commented Alex Green, Prime International Director Video Esports
– We are very excited about this agreement with Amazon, a global powerhouse. Combining the strength, tradition and fan base of our clubs with Amazon’s expertise and technology is a huge win for national football. This partnership will allow us to offer innovative experiences to millions of fans and strengthen our commitment to improving and transforming Brazilian football. We will continue to innovate and create the best possible opportunities for LFU clubs – revealed Marcelo Paz, President of the LFU.
It is worth mentioning that the novelty is only possible thanks to the modification of the Brazilian law on football broadcasting. In 2021, the “Main Law” was implemented. This rule allows clubs to individually negotiate image rights for their games. With the creation of LFU and Libra, the teams were grouped into two blocks and began to negotiate a common interest for participants within each league.
