Tad the Explorer Trailer: The Animated Indiana Jones Takes You on New Adventures!

Discover the first images of Tad the Explorer and the Emerald Table, the 3rd installment in the franchise that started in 2013! It was released in theaters on August 24.

The Tad the Explorer phenomenon is back! Following 2013’s Quest for the Lost City and 2018’s The Secret of King Midas, the famously clumsy adventurer returns to the big screen on August 24 with The Emerald Table.

The story again follows Thaddeo Jones, whose dream is to be recognized as a great archaeologist. But all his attempts to be accepted by Ryan, the brilliant expedition leader and his colleagues, turn into a fiasco. By opening the sarcophagus, he unleashes a curse that endangers the lives of his friends.

To end this curse and save the mummy, Jeff and Belzon, Tad and Sarah embark on a new adventure that will take them from Mexico to Chicago and from Paris to Egypt. This dangerous journey brings Tad to Agent Ramirez and occult expert Victoria Moon.

Indiana Jones, Lara Croft, Alan Quatermain, Benjamin Gates, Dirk Peet… and Ted Jones. Here is the youngest in the family of film researchers, an animated adventurer born from the imagination of the Spanish Enrique Gato.

A popular hero

Crowned by Goya for the best short film in 2006, the hero returned two years later, again winning the trophy and, above all, the feature film ticket.

It would be Tad the Explorer: In Search of the Lost City, a surprise (and major) success in 2012 with almost 2 million viewers in Spain, a gold record for the song. Te Voy A EsperarTwo video games, spin-offs… and Goyas for Best Animated Feature, Best Director for a First Feature, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Above all, the feature film stands out as the highest-grossing Spanish animated film of all time with $46 million worldwide. Not bad, for a budget of only 8 million GEL.

2013 saw the release of a sequel, The Secret of King Midas, which grossed 35 million tickets worldwide on a budget of 9 million. It was enough to launch a 3rd film, still directed by Enrique Gatto. In France, the two opuses gathered a total of 600,000 spectators.

Although Ted Jones is clearly full of Steven Spielberg’s archeologist and adventure film codas, it manages to find its own identity and tone thanks to a steady rhythm, well-designed design and above all, colorful characters.

We can point to The Mummy, both charming and mischievous, standing out among animation’s weirdest sidekicks, following in the footsteps of its pre-Columbian cousin Cronk.

Tad the Explorer and Emerald Tablet will be released on August 24th in our French regions.
