Gil confirms retirement after joining Santos

The 37-year-old will finish his career at the end of the year

The feeling is of duty fulfilled. After Santos beat Coritiba 2-0, this Monday (11), and secured access to the Série A of the Brasileirão in 2025, defender Gil celebrated the feat, which was the main objective of the team for the season. Therefore, he made a point of praising the team’s campaign.

“It’s a very good feeling. We had this goal, we were second behind Paulista and now we have gained access and we are going in search of the Serie B title. We will celebrate a lot,” said the defender.

The 37-year-old defender will not remain at Santos in 2025. After all, he has decided to end his career. Not even Peixe’s access will change his mind.

“My decision was made a long time ago. This season is over and I will take a lot of rest,” he said.

With the victory, Santos reaches 68 points and guarantees access to Serie A in 2025. The title, however, is still open. Peixe will play for the cup on Sunday (17th), at 4pm (Brasilia time), against CRB, in Vila Belmiro, for the 37th matchday of Serie B.
