Peter Dinklage joins the cast of the “The Hunger Games” prequel.

Actor Peter Dinklage, best known for his role as Tyrion Lannister in “Game of Thrones”, has joined the cast of “The Hunger Games” prequel, “The Song of Birds and Serpents”.

According to the magazine Deadline, the Emmy-winning actor will play Casca Highbottom, dean of the Academy attended by the young Coriolanus Snow. Dinklage joins Tom Blyth, who will play Snow, and Rachel Zegler, the other protagonist: Lucy Gray Baird.

“The Song of the Birds and the Serpents” will adapt Suzanne Collins’ novel of the same name, which tells the origin of one of the most hated figures in the “Hunger Games” franchise, President Snow. The film will be directed by Francis Lawrence, who also directed the franchise’s “Catching Fire”, “Mockingjay – Part 1” and “Mockingjay – Part 2”.

“Dean Highbottom is one of the most powerful people in Snow’s life. As the austere and vengeful face of the games, he sets the rules that will determine every aspect of Coriolanus’s fate. I am thrilled that Peter will bring him to life, ”said Lawrence.

The information was also commented by Nathan Kahane, president of Lionsgate. “With production underway, we couldn’t be more excited about how this cast has come together and excited to welcome Peter Dinklage to Panem. Peter isn’t just a fan favorite actor who brings a commanding presence to every role he plays. He is one of the best living actors. He will bring formidable and charismatic authority to the important role of Academy Dean. “

“I can’t think of a better actor to play Highbottom,” said Nina Jacobson, producer responsible for the entire “Hunger Games” saga. “Like the man credited with conceiving The Hunger Games and the Academy Principal, Casca Highbottom is a character with secrets. Peter’s magnetism, intensity and dark humor will infuse him with intelligence, depth and pathos required by the role “.

“A Cantiga dos Pássaros e das Serpentes” will hit Brazilian theaters on November 16, 2023.
