Sound like a good 90s spy thriller? That’s right, the Prime Video platform currently hosts GoldenEye, released in 1995, with Pierce Brosnan playing 007 for the first time. And it’s always nice!
A return after an absence of six years
My name is Bond. James Bond.
GoldenEye begins with James Bond joining his colleague Alec Trevelyan (006) on a mission to destroy a Russian military complex. Bond manages to escape by blowing up everything, but 006 is killed in front of him. Nine years later, Bond is tasked by his boss M to find a stolen satellite, and to investigate, he travels to St. Petersburg, where Jack Wade, his CIA colleague, is waiting for him.
It is the 17th film adaptation of the James Bond character created by Ian Fleming. Directed by Martin Campbell (who made The Mask of Zorro, Vertical Limit and Casino Royale, the first 007 with Daniel Craig), it allowed the public to rediscover the character after a six-year rights absence.
Modernization of the franchise

Not only did GoldenEye cast Pierce Brosnan as Bond, but it also has a stellar cast, starting with Sean Bean (Stark’s future father from Game of Thrones), Izabela Skorupko, Famke Jansen (Jean Gray in X-Men), Judy. Dench (in M), Robbie Coltrane (not yet Hagrid from Harry Potter), Alan Cummings, Minnie Driver, Cheki Cario and Gottfried John.
A perfect blend of action, humor and drama, GoldenEye also revitalized and modernized the James Bond saga, bringing it into the new millennium. We’re thinking particularly about the film’s villain – which we’re keeping a secret – and which is more complex than most of the previous sixteen opus. Eat without moderation, with a shaker and not with a spoon!
