Earlier this year, a federal indictment was filed against USA Network’s Todd and Julie Chrisley on a dozen charges of fraud. They pleaded not guilty during the trial in late May, but several explosive allegations emerged, including an alleged same-sex love affair and efforts over the years to defraud banks and the government on what are believed to be dozens of Millions of dollars. The jury finally found the couple guilty in all respects and the sentence is scheduled for October. While under house arrest, Todd has since revealed the biggest personal change he has made since the “test”.
The Chrisley knows best the stars have been able to follow their fan base over the course of their long Chrisley’s confession podcast. On Episode of 13 July, continued the tradition of not addressing his legal situation in direct terms, given his constant attempts to appeal. However, the patriarch hinted that he was apparently able to stop jumping to refute criticisms of his innocence and character in general. He said:
What is important and what has changed me in this ordeal is that I no longer feel the need to respond to opponents, to people who do not know, to people who have no idea what the truth is and who gives credit to 95. [percent] they are uplifting and positive. It took me a long time to get here [point] because when we started in this business, I wanted to respond to every person who lied to us or said something offensive or whatever. And now I don’t feel the need to do it anymore. And I think it’s part of what God has given me, God has given me this inner peace and has given me the full understanding of, ‘No one should believe our truth as long as we know our truth.’ As long as God knows it and we know it, that should be all that matters.
Savannah Chrisley also adopted a similar philosophy on life after her parents’ guilty beliefs, which basically consists of taking the good with the bad and defending its truth. At first, she said she was “grateful” for all her troubles as they brought the family closer. However, speaking of this new philosophy, she also complained that the public was “insensitive” to her feelings about her and “uneducated” on the matter in general as well. However, their father, Todd, added in the latest episode of the podcast that they persevered as a unit, despite the opposition:
As a family, we remain united and steadfast in our positions and our faith. We do not give up our faith. Now listen. Are we disappointed? Are we hurt? Yes, but we know that God has a purpose for everything.
The TV personality went on to say that his marriage to Julie Chrisley, who faced two separate charges in the cyber fraud and obstruction of justice case, has actually improved in recent weeks. They noted on the podcast that most couples give in under the pressure of such cases, but their verdicts have brought them closer. While under house arrest in Georgia, the 26-year-old couple were apparently ready for some Amazon Prime and Chill. They say the new movie redeeming love, and their reward story made them “lay there crying”.
Christian dramas aside, it’s clear the Chrisleys are trying to stay positive. However, it could prove more difficult in the coming months because if their appeals are unsuccessful, they face up to 30 years in prison for the alleged crimes. And if that’s the end result, the issue of fostering the Chrisleys’ minor children could become a problem.
