Santos will lift the Série B champion’s trophy this Sunday (17th), after facing CRB, in Vila Viva Sorte, in the 37th round of the competition, at 4pm (Brasilia time). The CBF has decided that the Santos team awards ceremony will be held during this commitment, given that Peixe became champion this Saturday (16th), even without entering the field.
It will therefore be up to midfielder and captain Diego Pituca to bring the unprecedented trophy to the stands. The CBF’s idea was to bring the trophy to Vila even before the duel between Novoritonzino and Paysandu, which ended 1-1. With the confirmation of Santos’ title, thanks to Novo’s stumble, Peixe anticipated the victory.
According to a “ge” publication, the Santos board of directors invited the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, to attend the match in a box in Vila. So far, however, there has been no formal response regarding the leader’s presence. Ednaldo is in Salvador with the Brazilian team, which will face Uruguay on Tuesday (19th), in a World Cup qualifying match.
