Tonight on TV: Jacques Audiard’s new film

Every day, AlloCiné recommends watching a movie (again) on TV. Tonight: Noemi Merlant in Jacques Audiard’s erotic love ballet.

After his western Les Frères Sisters, Jacques Audiard wants to dedicate himself to a project in the antipodes, that is, recorded in an urban environment, in black and white, with little action. This is how you are born OlympicsAdapted from three short stories by American author Adrian Tomin, titled “Amber is sweet“, “Kills and dies“and”Hawaii Escape“, for which he wrote the screenplay with Celine Sciamma and Lea Missius.

The title refers to the 13th arrondissement of Paris of the same name, where the director gently depicts the frustrations of adult life in an ever-fluid staging. The feature film, which presents itself as an inverted Ma nuit chez Maud, makes a new wave. But if you prefer innocence with Eric Rohmer, Jacques Audiard shows us a film where he approaches love and sex honestly.

The latter thus paints a portrait of a neighborhood, an era, a slightly confused generation, which marks a real break in his work thanks to its contemporaneity. We’ve kept Ronnie’s electric soundtrack (a Cannes soundtrack winner), replacing the faithful Alexandre Desplat, as well as the breathtaking natural performances of the young up-and-coming actors (Noemie Merlant, Lucy Zhang and Makita Samba). on AlloCine, Olympics Has an average viewer rating of 3.8 out of 5.
