One Million Moms Group Has Organized Boycotts of Other Walt Disney Productions Films
The American Christian Group One Million Moms is protesting to boycott Thor: Love and Thunder after claiming that the plot of the film by marvel studios features “explicit LGBTQIA+ content” in the film. The information is from IndieWire.
The text of the religious institution cites several scenes from the film as a reason for the cancellation of the screening of the feature film, including the character korg (Taika Waititi) mentioning that he has two parents and his species has “hand sex” in front of a lava pit to reproduce.
The petition also mentions that the “bisexual goddess” Valkyrieinterpreted by Tthis Thompsonkisses the hand of one of the subjects of Zeus (Russell Crowe) to demonstrate your interest in it. Furthermore, they also mention that axl (Kieron L. Dyer) insists on being called by this name, as it is “gender neuter”, rather than his given name.
The last objection of One Million Moms is curious: “The gay romantic tension between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) it’s the star lord (Chris Pratt) is apparent and treated as a joke throughout the film”.
It’s not the first time that One Million Moms, a member of the American Family Association (AFA), a conservative Christian group that campaigns against LGBTQIA+ rights, has staged anti-media protests – among its recent targets are other films from the disneyas Toy Story 4 (2019) and Beauty and the Beast (2017), for the inclusion of queer characters in their plots.
Recently, Thor: Love and Thunder had its premiere banned from China for its LGBTQIA+ scenes, becoming the sixth film from the studios to be banned for gender bias, following lightyear (2022), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), West Side Story (2021) and eternal (2021) on a growing list of major Disney titles to be blocked by due to the inclusion of LGBTQ+ scenes, which often come into conflict due to homosexuality being officially illegal in much of the Middle East and Asia.
The fourth God of Thunder movie is now in theaters nationwide.
