Cat’s Eyes on TF1: How Prudence (Elodie Fontaine) Became the Villain of the Series

On November 11, Cat’s Eyes, a TV series adapted from Tsukasa Hôjô’s manga, attracted 5.1 million viewers during its run on TF1.

If viewers could immerse themselves in the new adventure of the Shammad sisters, they could also meet the character of Prudence, a ruthless female assassin played by Elodie Fontaine.

Unlike Tami (Camille Lu), Celia (Constance Labe), Alexia (Claire Romain) or Quentin (Mohammed Belkiri), the character of Prudence does not exist in Tsukasa Hojo’s original work and was therefore created specifically for the series.

Indeed, the TF1 series is a prequel to the story told in the manga and allows the creators to tell how the Chamade sisters became Cat’s Eyes. From there, the character of Prudence was created to enrich the world of Tsukasa Hojo while offering an antagonistic figure on par with our heroes.

How did you imagine the character of Prudence?

Creating Prudence was a process that took time. Indeed, the character has arrived”A little late in the making of the seriesIt must be said that in the works of Tsukasa Hojo, the cat’s eyes are essentially opposed to the police, and the BRB investigators do not pose a real threat to them.

So at the time of writing, the team realized that it was missing.Real mortal danger, real danger“For heroes.

In the manga, the Chamade sisters are quick to fight the yakuza, so we really wanted to explore that sense of danger. It was very important“- explained the screenwriter of the series Michel Katz at the microphone of Allociné.

That’s how the idea of creating a female character comes about.”Super dangerous, cold and no hassle“Arrived. Only then were they able to imagine the story around Prudence.

According to the screenwriter, “We wanted to have fun and punchlines for him. We couldn’t do that with the characters because they had to be lovable. But with the bad boys we could really have fun“.

But if Prudence was in the script, there was Prudence on set. And it was on the set that this wonderful killer took on a whole new dimension.

“We invented a lot of things as we went along”

If there was already a lot of humor in the script, in the end it was Alexandre Laurent, the director of the series, who found the essence of Prudence by working with Elodie Fontan.

He is one of my favorite characters. We had a long talk with Michelle Katz about the color we wanted to have. That was what we finally found on set. I wanted to make a move like the car scene with Ophelia Kolb. This scene was really the launch of Prudence’s character“.

He adds, “We invented a lot of things as we went along. The inspirations are numerous. I see little kidnappingfrom kill billyfromatomic blonde In order to always make people smile. There are moments when he is having fun, others when he is completely crazy. He can be very nice and then angry. We knew where we wanted to go“.

So Prudence fits perfectly into this modernized version of Cat’s Eyes, with a touch of menace and humor.
