For reference, in an interview, Robert Zemeckis once joked that these aerial skateboards were completely real, which is why many fans tried to get their hands on them regardless of the price! As unbelievable as it sounds, he had to backtrack on his joke and explain that they didn’t exist (yet?).

A prophecy that will never come true

In making a movie like this, of course, it must have been a lot of fun trying to create a plausible future, even if the predictions didn’t necessarily turn out to be true… and if some of them seemed impossible or implausible at first, or pure. Science fiction, they finally lost the title of science fiction. Some imaginative inventions are coming true: video calls, digital payments, the age of endless fake movie sequels. History, with a capital H, however, wished otherwise: 7 years after the release of the film, in 1996, Princess Diana divorced Prince Charles, so she could no longer be queen one day. And then, tragedy struck: he died in a car accident the following year at the age of 36.

Despite this little newspaper box that went almost unnoticed, the film hit many points, and that’s what we remember and what’s also its strength: the ability to predict the future with intelligence and realism, all in a thrilling adventure. Time, simply one of the best.
