Information from the Portuguese newspaper “Público” assures that the Brazilian criminal organization attempted to purchase SAF in Europe
Brazilian organized crime has crossed borders and even continents. According to reports from the Portuguese newspaper “Público”, the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) is involved in the management of Fafe, a Portuguese third division club.
The Portuguese Football Federation announced that it will investigate the case, which will also be examined by the entity’s disciplinary commission.
The article reveals that, in 2023, PCC attempted to buy other clubs, such as Varzim, Felgueiras and Vilaverdense. Bids for the takeover of the Football Corporations (SAF) saw the participation of people linked to the Brazilian criminal faction.
“Público” also reported that one of the participants in the meetings was arrested in 2010 for attempting to rob the Banco do Brasil, in Bahia. Besides him, businessman and players’ agent Ulisses Jorge figures as a central name in the negotiations.
With the fallout from the case, the Associação Desportiva Fafe released a statement from the businessman denying the allegations.
“The information according to which the entrepreneur Ulisses Jorge, CEO of UJ Football Talent, is involved in some illegal project is neither true nor frivolous,” reads the note.
According to the local newspaper, the entrepreneurs are already working at Fafe, even if they have not yet officially joined the club. However, player transfers and other deals in which the Brazilian faction is involved appear to be aimed at money laundering.
The CCP in Europe
In October, São Paulo’s Secretary of Public Security, Guilherme Derrite, highlighted that the CCP uses the European continent to launder money from crime. Derrite also said that criminals see Portugal as a “gateway for drug distribution to Europe”. The strength of the Euro is the main reason for attracting criminals.
Furthermore, a report by the Portuguese Security Intelligence Service revealed that around a thousand PCC members, originally from São Paulo, operate in the country.
