Terror Spies on the M6: Series Ending Explained

Warning, this article contains spoilers for the ending of the final episode of Terror Spies. If you haven’t seen it yet, go ahead!

The final episode of Spies of Terror, its event mini-series, airs on M6 this Tuesday 19 November from 10.05pm. After months of stalking, and thanks to Lucy (Fleur Geffrier) and Malika (Rachida Brackney) working together with their teams, based on information provided by cyberinfiltrator Ulysses and with the invaluable help of a guided minotaur source. Vincent, DGSE and DGSI can prevent a double major attack on French soil and at the same time destroy the sponsor of the November 13, 2015 attacks.

A new attack

In the final minutes of the episode, everyone celebrates this expected victory against the Islamic State and tries to recover from this long month of work. A few months later we find Said, nicknamed the Minotaur, who has now become a garbage collector in Paris.

Once in his truck, he turns on the radio. At this point, we hear a journalist’s statement that an explosion occurred at the end of a concert in Manchester. The series therefore concludes with a mention of the actual event that took place on May 22, 2017, resulting in twenty-three deaths (including the terrorist) and 237 injuries, including twenty-eight seriously.

The final is far from trivial

At the press briefing, Matthew Suk, the author of the investigative book that inspired the series, and Frank Filippon, the screenwriter, returned to the meaning of this ending, which is far from trivial. “This ending shows that the fight is never overFrank Philippon explained.

“Ariana Grande is the modicum of success that the terrorists didn’t have with the November 13th attacks. At Stade de France, they learned that you should blow yourself up at the end of the concert, not at the entrance. This ending shows that we are not in a romantic story where all is well“.

“The irony is that on November 12, the English managed to eliminate their equivalent of Abaaoud.Mate Suk added. “Somehow November 13 was avoided, and Manchester two years later. The idea is to show that there has been success, but at the same time, the struggle continues.”
