Commandant Saint-Barth on TF1: Is comedian Florent Peyre as good as a cop as he is on stage?

what are you talking about

Commander Saint-Barthélemy returned to the paradise island of his childhood. And barely arrived, he already has a crime to solve. Young Tina was found drowned… on top of a coconut tree. Who’s mad on this sunny and helpful beach?

At the private beach where he worked, he took advantage of VIP clients to suddenly increase his income… Fortunately, Saint-Barre, who grew up in the most legendary resort of the island, has some fantastic method, but foolproof. To solve the investigation…

series Commander Saint-Barth It will be broadcast from Thursday 21 November on TF1 from 21:10. It is also available on TF1+.

who is he with

Comedian Florent Peyre plays the main character alone for the first time in the series. Here he stars with Philippa Phoenix (George Mondesire), Yanig Samot (August Ventura), Joyce Bibring (Avril Rosier) and Margot Hackman (Lou Rosier).

But that’s not all, because they also share the screen with Roxanne Brett (Charlie Coster), Nathanael Beauvoir (Théo Solveg), Matthias van Khache (Clothaire Rosier), Clarise Lhoni-Botte (Déborah Cazoux), Elodie Frenck (Diane Baccara), Oscar . Cope (Mathieu Babin) and Etienne Diallo (Caito Mendes).

Season 1 of Commandant Saint-Barth was written by Anouk Filippini, Eric Eider, Hugo Nathan-Murat, Ivan Pietre, Alexandra Juliet, Mercedes Delta, Charlene Galan, and Laurent Vignon. Six episodes were directed by Denis Thibault.

is it worth watching

Descend immediately with Commander Saint-Barr, direction… police station. But not everywhere! In this new detective series, TF1 viewers find themselves in the shoes of Florent Peyre, a policeman with a troubled past who returns to his native island paradise…

Here, the comedian definitely recalls Magnum (a private detective from the cult series) or even Mel Gibson’s character in “Lethal Weapon” thanks to his devastating smile, Hawaiian shirts or even his charming facial expressions.

Gabriel, the main character he plays, is positive and unifying. He also has a certain sense of humor!

However, our hero has been suffering for years due to the mysterious death of his father… While returning to this place, he also crosses paths with his ex, with whom things do not seem to be completely resolved. Moreover, he hid a big secret from her…

Therefore, Commandant Saint-Barth is a fiction that is sometimes funny and sometimes more dramatic, a first for Florent Peyre in this kind of project. We feel his investment through the screen: the comedian goes out of his way (and shows a lot in the shower!) to be touching and funny. The main person also does not forget to fully participate in stunts!

Finally, the setting in which the series takes place (filmed in Guadeloupe) is absolutely sublime and provides a good dose of escapism as winter approaches in France. Unfortunately, along with these good points, Commandant Saint-Barth presents some major flaws…

It’s hard to stand out in the detective series genre these days because there’s so much on offer. If the style of the series was formed thanks to certain aspects mentioned above, it still lacks originality and does not offer anything particularly innovative.

We also regret that the jokes often struggle to hit the mark and that the writing of the supporting roles isn’t more sophisticated.

Despite everything, Commandant Saint-Barth and Florent Peyre should appeal to the TF1 audience, a big fan of this type of fiction. However, with season two, we’re hoping for more spice under the sun!
