The series features Emma Myers, Enid from “Wandinha,” as a child detective
The mysteries continue
Netflix has renewed “A Good Girl’s Playbook” for a second season. The series is an adaptation of Holly Jackson’s literary franchise of the same name and features Emma Myers, Enid from “Wandinha,” as a child detective.
In the inaugural season, Andie Bell is the most beautiful and popular girl in school, but ends up being killed by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who commits suicide after the crime. Five years later, everyone has moved on, except Pip Fitz-Amobi (Myers), who doesn’t believe the explanation for the crime. With the help of Sal’s brother, she decides to investigate the details that don’t fit into this puzzle, willing to prove that Sal was a victim and not a killer. To do so, he gathers a number of suspects, but his curiosity soon begins to attract attention and the amateur investigation takes a dangerous turn.
New challenges and twists
The second season will follow the events after Pip and Ravi Singh (Zain Iqbal) discover Andie Bell’s disappearance. Based on the second book in the series, “Good Girl, Bad Blood”, the new season will have six episodes and a screenplay adapted by the author together with Poppy Cogan, who also worked on the first season. Registrations are expected to begin in 2025.
The official synopsis reveals that the story will follow Pip as he tries to find Jamie Reynolds, a key witness who disappears before a trial. “This new mystery will take Pip to unexpected places as she faces questions about justice and moves further away from the ‘good girl’ she was,” the summary indicates.
Holly Jackson celebrated the renewal: “I am extremely happy that we can continue Pip’s story and this time I write for the series!”
The series is produced by Moonage Pictures (“Crime Tycoons”) in collaboration with BBC iPlayer, BBC Three, Netflix and ZDFneo.
