Augusto Melo claims that calling for impeachment is an attempted coup at Corinthians

On his social networks, the president states that the decision causes irreparable damage to the Parque São Jorge club

This Thursday (21st), the president of Corinthians, Augusto Melo, defined the vote called by the Deliberative Council for his impeachment as an attempted coup. The director sent a letter to Timão fans.

In the content published on his social networks, Melo criticized the trial and asked for guarantees for his right to defense as president of the club.

“I will not allow my mandate to be revoked without guaranteeing my right to defense. I am sure that the truth will prevail and that all those who try to prevent the professionalization of Corinthians will be defeated,” he said.

However, the vote was called by Romeu Tuma Junior, president of the Deliberative Council. The group will meet at Parque São Jorge on November 28th at 6pm (Brasilia time).

The request for impeachment, in fact, is linked to an investigation by the club’s Ethics Committee. The objective is to evaluate the sponsorship contract with VaideBet, which ended after the scandals involving the sports betting company. In a previous analysis, Corinthians would have risked committing an injustice if they had decided before the conclusion of the Civil Police investigations, which have been ongoing since May this year.
