The municipality presents the budget for the renewal of the public transport fleet through the Mais Transporte programme. In 2024 alone, 152 new buses have been added to the fleet, including the 12 trams of the Porto Alegre public transport electrification project. The goal presented at the beginning of the administration was 400 new buses, which will be exceeded by the end of the year.
“This qualification aims to recover, improve and offer more comfort in serving public transport users in Porto Alegre. With an increased travel offer and new buses, we want to provide agility and make travel more attractive and safe for passengers,” he emphasizes the Secretary of Urban Mobility, Adão de Castro Júnior.
From 2022 to 2023, 244 new buses have been added to Porto Alegre’s public transport fleet. In 2024, up to this month, another 152 vehicles have arrived, for a total of 396 new buses, equipped with air conditioning, in circulation in all regions of the Capital. More new buses are expected to arrive by the end of the year, among the more than 60 vehicles already purchased and in production.
