Born on April 7, 1964 in Wellington, New Zealand, Russell Crowe began his acting career at a young age. Although born in New Zealand, he spent much of his childhood in Australia and settled there permanently at the age of 21. His first major role was in the Australian television series Neighbors in 1987.

His big break came with the 1992 film Romper Stomper, where he played a violent skinhead. This role brought him international recognition and opened doors to Hollywood. These are some of his most memorable films.

A Beautiful Mind (2001)

Crowe plays a brilliant but tormented mathematician struggling with schizophrenia. This film, directed by Ron Howard, earned Crowe several awards and nominations. The film is based on the life of mathematician John Nash, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics.

LA Confidential (1997)
