The impact was so violent that the front part of the car ended up on the pavement, while the rear part, including the seats, was thrown into the traffic island of the avenue. Several pieces were scattered along the road and part of the vehicle remained attached to the pole.

The mobile emergency service (Samu) was called, but the team found the driver dead at the scene. The victim’s identity was not released.
Military Police said another vehicle was seen in the vicinity of the crash and authorities are investigating whether it was involved in or otherwise influenced the collision. The investigation seeks to clarify the circumstances of the accident, which raised doubts about traffic safety on one of Curitiba’s busiest roads.
During the morning, traffic towards São José dos Pinhais was slowed down due to the partial closure of the runway to remove debris. Military police officers were on site to guide the drivers, while a tow truck collected the vehicle parts.
Avenida Comendador Franco is often the scene of serious accidents. Data from the Traffic Police Battalion (BPtran) shows that, in the first six months of 2024 alone, the road recorded 382 accidents, an average of two per day. These figures raise concerns about the need for more effective measures to reduce the risk of collisions and improve road safety in the region.
