Amazon announced Wednesday that Eddie Murphy will star in the Christmas comedy “Candy Cane Lane” on Prime Video.
The production is Murphy’s second film on the streaming platform. Following the success of “A Prince in New York 2” last year, the actor signed a deal to star in three Prime Video films. “Candy Cane Lane” is the first.
The film also marks a reunion between the star and director Reginald Hudlin, 30 years after working together on “The Prince of Women,” one of the biggest hits of Murphy’s career. And it also has the producer of that movie, Brian Grazer.
Plot details are kept under wraps, but screenwriter Kelly Younger (“Muppets Haunted Mansion”) is said to have drawn inspiration from childhood vacation experiences.
