The superstar couple tied the knot on Saturday night in a giddy ceremony in Las Vegas. The news first broke when TMZ reported on Sunday that the couple had obtained a marriage license in Clark County, Nevada, reading their full legal names, Benjamin Geza Affleck and Jennifer Lynn Lopez. The license also revealed that the singer plans to take the actor’s name as her own.
The bride herself confirmed the news in an emotional edition of her personal newsletter for fans, ‘On The JLo’, which included photos and videos of the wedding. She also revealed her new legal name, signing the letter, “Ms. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”
The name change has been brewing since the early 2000s, when the ‘Marry Me’ actress and the ‘Argo’ director and star first got engaged.. The couple met around April 2021 and then announced their second engagement last spring.
Fans of “Bennifer” immediately took to Twitter to congratulate the happy couple, posting photos and clips from the couple’s love story. One of the most popular videos so far is of her appearance on Dateline in 2003, which was shot in the house they shared in Vancouver. In said video, as Lopez prepares breakfast, host Pat O’Brien says, “I want to know, a week after your wedding, what will your name be?” To which the artist replies “Jennifer Lopez, but my name will be Jennifer Affleck, obviously,” and she adds that her stationery will be printed with her married name.
