A class action lawsuit seeks $5 million in damages for anyone who purchased a defective toy
THE Mattel is processed after having accidentally inserted a link to a porn site in the packaging of the movie collection dolls “Evil”. According to the North American press, the class action against the company, presented in the Federal Court of Los Angeles, in the United States, requests at least 5 million dollars for those who purchased the toy with defect due to damage.

According to information about the trial published by “Variety” magazine, the action was filed by a South Carolina resident named Holly Ricketson. According to her, she bought the doll for her daughter and the little girl visited the adult content website via the link engraved on the box.
Ricketson also claims that Mattel did not offer a refund despite the dolls being removed from the market in early November, and that she and her daughter suffered “emotional distress” over the error.
“They were hardcore scenes, full of nude pornographic images, depicting actual sexual intercourse. The author’s youngest daughter immediately showed the photos to her mother and they were both horrified by what they saw. If the plaintiff had known of such an inappropriate defect in the product, she would not have purchased it,” the defense states in the lawsuit.
As the situation escalated, Mattel released a statement saying it was aware of the misprint on the packaging and advising consumers who had already purchased the dolls to “discard the product packaging or hide the link.”
